About the Author

Beat W. Meier was born in Bern, Switzerland, and studied electronics and computer science. His path led him from the lecture halls of the 1980s through the software industry and into building his own businesses — he led teams, grew companies, and learned that success rarely looks the way you imagined it.

Beyond his career, he always sought worlds where precision is everything: as an officer in the mountain grenadiers in the high Alps, as a pilot in the cockpit, as a radio amateur on shortwave since the seventies, as a dive instructor underwater since the eighties. Whether steep terrain, frequencies, depth gauges, or altitude — the fascination with situations that tolerate no error runs through his entire life.

Now, in what is supposedly retirement, the circle closes: the engineer who once wrote code instead of essays writes both today. Some habits you never break. You just give them a new home.

What comes of that has concrete addresses. His wife's surgical practice, which he runs on the administrative side and for which he builds software for medicine. The Pro.Politique association, currently being founded, which he co-initiated and whose applications come out of the same workshop. And companies that call him in when a project asks for more than something off the shelf.

He is the father of four children and lives in Central Switzerland on the shores of Lake Zug.
